Gingivitis Treatment in Gurugram

Red or bleeding gums can be a sign of gum inflammation, but they do not prove that the cause is gingivitis. Examination helps distinguish plaque-related gingivitis from other problems, including loss of the tissues supporting teeth. Dr. Supreet Kaur Sawhney, MDS, is a Senior Consultant – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Senior Implantologist with more than 20 years of experience. Dr. Supreet provides gum-disease assessment and treatment in Gurugram; examination determines which care is appropriate.

What gingivitis means

Plaque is a soft film that forms on teeth. Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. In plaque-induced gingivitis, the gum tissue is inflamed before the supporting attachment and bone loss associated with periodontitis. Redness, swelling and bleeding can prompt an examination, but other causes are possible. Gum disease can also be present without obvious symptoms.

Sources

The clinician checks the gum tissues and whether there are signs of recession (gums pulling back), attachment loss (loss of the gum’s supporting attachment to a tooth) or bone loss. Those findings need a separate assessment for periodontitis; bleeding alone does not make that diagnosis.

Cleaning and daily plaque control

When the diagnosis is plaque-induced gingivitis, professional cleaning together with effective daily plaque control can resolve the inflammation. That response is not guaranteed for every cause of gum inflammation, and established supporting-tissue loss needs its own assessment and plan.

Brush and clean between teeth every day to help control plaque and reduce recurrence. The technique and frequency can be tailored to your mouth. A dental check-up may also include discussion of cleaning habits, diet, smoking or alcohol use to guide preventive advice.
